If time is the fundamental field of reality, then renewal is not merely one of its behaviours.
Renewal is the essential act through which reality exists. Everything that persists, everything that changes, and everything that occurs is anchored in this continual re-instantiation of the universe.

CTT identifies renewal as the primitive activity from which all other physical and experiential phenomena arise. Without renewal, there is no structure, no motion, no memory, no causation, and no present moment.

Renewal Grounds Conscious Experience

Consciousness is the lived awareness of the present moment.
For awareness to unfold, the present must continually come into being.

If renewal were to stop—even for an instant—consciousness would not freeze; it would vanish.
There would be no next moment in which an experience could exist.
Renewal is therefore the foundational condition for:

  • awareness,

  • memory formation,

  • perception,

  • and the continuity of the self.

Consciousness is not an observer moving through time. It is a structured pattern embedded within the renewing field of time itself.

Renewal Allows Structure to Emerge and Persist

Structure cannot survive without renewal. Matter, patterns, and physical laws remain stable only because renewal continually re-expresses them.

Every atom, every gravitational field, every coherent system persists only because it demonstrates the ability to remain stable across renewal, not within a pre-existing temporal dimension.

This creates a natural selection-like dynamic at the foundation of physics:

  • stable patterns endure,

  • unstable patterns dissolve,

  • structure accumulates over time.

The universe develops coherence because renewal continuously tests what can persist.

Renewal Generates the Arrow of Time

The arrow of time—the undeniable directionality of events—is often treated as mysterious. Physics allows time to run forward or backwards in many equations, yet experience does not.

CTT resolves this immediately:

Renewal moves only forward.

Each renewed state arises from the preceding state, not from the state ahead or behind.
Renewal is asymmetric by nature:

  • it brings the present into being,

  • it never reinstates a past,

  • it never anticipates a future.

The arrow of time is not an imposed feature of the universe. It is the inherent directionality of renewal itself.

Renewal Avoids Infinite Regress

Any attempt to explain the existence of successive states invites the question:
What causes the next moment?

If each moment is caused by the previous one, we are left with an infinite regress of causes. If something external creates each moment, we merely shift the regress outward.

CTT halts regression by treating renewal as primitive. Nothing causes renewal. Renewal is what time is.

The temporal field does not require an external generator, nor does it require a prior explanation for its activity. Renewal is the fundamental ontological act from which all causal chains arise.

Renewal Enables Both Change and Persistence

A non-renewing universe faces two impossible conditions:

Without renewal, nothing could change.

Motion, transformation, causation, evolution, decay—all require successive moments. Without renewal, the universe would be a frozen, static configuration incapable of any process.

Without renewal, nothing could persist.

Ironically, a frozen universe would also immediately dissolve. Structure would not have the mechanism to maintain itself. Atoms would not cohere; gravitational fields would not hold; patterns would collapse.

Renewal solves both problems simultaneously:

  • change arises because each moment is newly instantiated;

  • persistence arises because stable patterns are re-instantiated consistently across renewal.

The universe endures precisely because it is constantly rebuilt.

Renewal as the Foundation of Existence

Renewal is the pulse of reality. It is the creative act by which:

  • the present comes into being,

  • structure is preserved,

  • complexity emerges,

  • consciousness unfolds,

  • and the universe continues to exist.

CTT, therefore, identifies renewal not as a feature of time, but as its essence. Reality exists because time continually recreates it.
